Air Optix Aqua has re-branded with a new name: Air Optix HydraGlyde. This product comes with a variety of weapons to help you fight the monsters.
Weapon 1: Smartshield Technology
Our tear film is made up of many layers, one being the lipid layer. Some eyes deposit an opaque material (lipid, cholesterol or calcium), leaving our contact lenses difficult to clean and cloudy to see through. The Smartshield is a layer on the outside of the contact lens that helps reduce the transfer of these deposits from the tear film to the contact lens, keeping it clean, clear and comfortable. The Smartshield also helps protect the contact lens from makeup and other cosmetic products.
Weapon 2: HydraGlyde Moisture Matrix
With the Air Optix Aqua, some patients found that, throughout the course of the day, comfort and moisture would decrease. Patients would have to rely on lubricating drops or choose to remove the contacts when they were uncomfortable. Now, with the HydraGlyde Moisture Matrix, moisture is attracted to the lens and held there happily ever after.

I have used these contacts for about 10 years and now the formula has switched and it really irritates my eyes. These ate so bad that I am returning these for a different brand. I hate that you changed your formula, because I have to change them every 2 weeks instaed of every 4.
I am sorry to hear that you are not enjoying the new Air Optix with Hydraglyde from Alcon. From time to time, manufacturer’s will reformulate how they manufacture contact lenses, with the desire to improve the quality for of the lenses for their patients. When fitting new contact lenses for our patients, an Optometrist or Optician will perform a contact lens fit, to assess both the fit of the contact lens on the eye and the visual acuity with the lenses inserted. Trial lenses are dispensed for the patient to assess the comfort of the new lenses over the course of a few weeks. We are committed to providing the best quality service to all of our contact lens patients, so at any time, if you are unhappy with a product we dispensed to you, one of our Optometrists or Opticians would be happy to help fit you with a replacement brand of contact lenses, that would both improve your comfort, and provide great visual acuity. Please contact our office directly at 519.885.2020, and we would be happy to schedule you an appointment to fit you with some alternative options.
