Dr. Diana Balcarras Berg

Born and raised in Waterloo, Diana started as a patient here throughout her childhood before joining the Insight Eye Care team as an optometrist in 2009.
Diana earned her Doctor of Optometry degree and Honours Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Waterloo. She has a special interest in Myopia Management and co-leads the Myopace clinic at Insight. She is active in optometric research and acts as an investigator in clinical research projects.
In addition to her role at Insight, she is a clinical and laboratory instructor at the University of Waterloo School of Optometry and Vision Science where she helps educate future optometrists. She completed advanced ocular disease training at Jack C. Montgomery Veterans Affairs Medical Centre in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
Diana has travelled throughout Africa and Paraguay participating in sustainable, community-based health care programs. Diana loves spending time enjoying the outdoors with her children and husband. Her favourite eyewear lines are MYKITA and Maui Jim. Her favourite local independent businesses are Picards Peanuts and Seven Shores Cafe.
